President Donald Trump displayed a bruised and discolored hand while welcoming King Charles and Queen Camilla at the beginning of their four-day state visit to Washington. Images of Trump’s left hand have circulated online over the past year, sparking concerns about his health.
During the meeting with King Charles and Queen Camilla on Monday, makeup appeared to be covering the discoloration on Trump’s hand. Journalist Aaron Rupar noted the visible discoloration on Trump’s left hand, despite ongoing issues with his right hand.
The condition of Trump’s hands has garnered attention since his return to the White House, often showing visible bruising. Speculation on social media suggested medical treatments requiring IVs may be the cause of the bruising.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt previously explained that Trump’s hand bruising is a result of his active engagement with the public, constantly shaking hands as part of his daily routine. Trump was photographed alongside the King and Queen upon their arrival in the US on Monday morning.
The royal couple’s itinerary includes attending a garden party and a state dinner at the White House, as well as meeting families of 9/11 victims in New York. They will conclude their trip at a national park in Virginia, with Charles scheduled to address Congress, following in the footsteps of his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II.
