LIV Golf standout Tyrrell Hatton expressed his disappointment with the course after facing an early setback in his final round at the Masters on Sunday. Hatton started the day at 4-under par after posting level par on Saturday and an impressive 66 on Friday.
Although he began positively with a birdie on the par-5 second hole, Hatton faltered at the 251-yard par-3 fourth, costing him a stroke. His tee shot slightly overshot the green, setting up what should have been an easy two-putt for him. However, after an initial putt that fell short, Hatton made a critical mistake as his subsequent putt hit the lip, leading to visible frustration from the 34-year-old known for his occasional emotional outbursts.
Following the error, Hatton exclaimed, “This place is frustrating.” The tense atmosphere continued as Wyndham Clark, in the next group, also let out an expletive-laden outburst after a similar error on his par putt.
Nevertheless, Hatton’s fortunes improved soon after with a spectacular eagle on the seventh hole and a birdie on the eighth, lifting his spirits. His struggles on the fourth hole, possibly influenced by the challenging course conditions with firm greens under the scorching Augusta sun, were shared by many players.
Despite a solid 4-under round, Hatton’s teammate Jon Rahm encountered difficulties, registering three bogeys on a firmer Augusta National course that he claimed was unfamiliar to him. Rahm expressed the need for adjustments after finishing the tournament at 1-over par.
As Hatton concluded his round at -10, taking the clubhouse lead, he observed the performances of other contenders like Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose. The Masters coverage is set to begin on April 6, with fans being able to watch it live through Sky’s Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle, featuring a wide range of channels and streaming services.
