“U.S. Military Strikes Iran Targets in Strait of Hormuz”

Date:

The U.S. military has confirmed the conclusion of its latest series of airstrikes against Iran, targeting around 140 locations. This marks the third consecutive week of strikes on Iranian targets. The strikes, conducted by the U.S. military’s Central Command, aimed at missile and drone launch sites, ammunition depots, communication infrastructure, and other strategic sites to hinder Iran’s capacity to threaten civilian and commercial ships navigating the Strait of Hormuz.

The recent airstrikes were in response to an attack by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on a Cyprus-flagged container ship in the Strait of Hormuz, leading to the vessel catching fire and its crew abandoning ship. The U.S. military emphasized the consequences Iran faces for endangering civilian maritime traffic in the region.

In retaliation, Iran reportedly launched strikes targeting Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) provided an update highlighting the completion of the third round of strikes against Iran, focusing on approximately 140 military targets to safeguard commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz. The strikes, carried out with precision munitions from various platforms, have significantly disrupted Iran’s military capabilities in the area.

Following the events, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard declared the closure of the Strait of Hormuz until further notice, citing unauthorized vessel movements. The closure was enforced with a warning shot to deter further actions against Iran. The statement further warned of additional targets in the region if the situation escalated.

Additionally, Kuwait’s military reported engaging in defensive measures against a perceived incoming threat. The tension in the region continues to escalate as military actions and threats persist from both sides.
