The UAE and Kuwait are currently addressing missile and drone threats following a recent ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran. The UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority issued a warning about a missile threat, urging people to stay in safe locations and follow official updates.
Shortly after an explosion at an Iranian oil refinery on Lavan Island in the Persian Gulf, the threats emerged. The UAE cautioned civilians not to approach any fallen fragments resulting from successful air interceptions and to allow authorities to assess the situation.
Kuwait reported that its air defenses intercepted a series of Iranian drones targeting critical infrastructure such as oil facilities, power stations, and water desalination plants. Colonel Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi of Kuwait’s Defence Ministry stated that 28 Iranian drones were intercepted, causing substantial damage to key facilities.
Additionally, a second attack on Iranian territory occurred with an explosion on Sirri Island, home to extensive oil infrastructure. The Iranian authorities attributed the attacks to “cowardly enemies” and are working to control the situation.
These incidents followed a ceasefire mediated by Pakistan between US-Israeli forces and Iran, with both sides agreeing to a temporary halt in hostilities. President Trump agreed to suspend attacks on Iran for two weeks, pending Iran’s compliance with opening the Strait of Hormuz.
