“UAE Travel Advisory: Security Risks Prompt UK Charter Flight”

Date:

The United Arab Emirates received updated travel advisories from the Foreign Office on March 7. A significant conflict involving US-Israeli forces and Iran has caused turmoil in the Gulf region for over a week, resulting in attacks with missiles and drones on various nations and leading to the suspension of airline services, leaving many travelers stranded.

Recent incidents in Dubai, including a driver’s death from falling debris in Al Barsha and a drone hitting a residential tower in Dubai Marina, have heightened concerns. The Foreign Office has adjusted its guidance for the UAE, urging against non-essential travel due to escalating security risks and travel disruptions.

To assist British nationals affected by the regional turmoil, the UK Government is arranging a commercial charter flight from the UAE, scheduled to depart early next week from Dubai. Interested individuals, including family members, can register with the FCDO for repatriation. Safety precautions advise staying away from security areas, following local authorities’ instructions, and monitoring media updates for the latest information.

In case of an emergency, individuals are advised to seek shelter indoors immediately, limit movements to essential trips, keep mobile phones charged, and stay informed through official alerts. Commercial travel options remain limited, and travelers are urged to stay updated on airline and local authority instructions. It is crucial to have emergency supplies, maintain updated travel documents, and assess departure plans regularly for safety.
