“UK Airports Lift 100ml Liquid Limit for Summer Travel”

Date:

Several UK airports have done away with the 100ml liquid restriction at airport security, a crucial update for travelers planning their holiday trips. As the summer holiday season approaches, UK airports are bracing for a surge in travel activity, with many families embarking on vacations abroad. While this is an exciting time for holidaymakers, it is essential for them to be well-informed about airport security regulations before their journey.

A significant development this year has been the removal of the 100ml liquid limit at several airports. These airports have adopted new CT scanners that can generate detailed 3D images of carry-on bags, enabling passengers to carry up to two liters of liquids through security. As a result, travelers can now keep their two-liter liquid containers in their hand luggage during the security screening process.

The UK airports that have implemented this change include a list of locations. However, it is worth noting that not all UK airports have transitioned to this new policy; many still require liquids to be 100ml or less. Nonetheless, some airports have relaxed their restrictions, allowing passengers to forgo placing liquids in clear plastic bags and permitting liquids to remain in hand luggage during security checks.

Travelers are advised to verify specific regulations directly with the departing airport, especially in anticipation of the summer holidays. It is equally important to check any restrictions enforced by the arrival airport, as regulations may differ for countries outside the UK, especially concerning liquids in 100ml containers.

For airports still adhering to the 100ml liquid rule, exemptions are granted for items such as baby milk or food, medicines, special dietary foods, and duty-free liquids. Additionally, TUI has issued a warning regarding changes in airport security at certain UK airports. While new scanners are being installed at UK airports to adapt to security modifications, passengers are urged to adhere to current guidelines, as not all airports have made the transition yet, and destination airports may still enforce existing restrictions.

TUI has provided information on airports that have enacted changes, including Aberdeen, Birmingham, Newcastle, Leeds Bradford, London Southend, and London City. Travelers are encouraged to visit TUI’s airport security webpage or the relevant information page of their departing UK airport for specific details.
