“Toxic Recalls: Children’s Products and Cooking Ingredient Pose Serious Risks”

Date:

A range of children’s products designed for infants and toddlers have been urgently recalled, along with a common cooking ingredient that recently posed a serious threat to a 14-month-old child’s life.

Parents are being advised to immediately dispose of the listed items and seek refunds from the manufacturer due to the significant safety risks they pose to families. The recall affects eight items from TheKiddoSpace, a US-based maker of children’s educational toys, sold both globally and online.

Among the recalled items are a swing with fabric that can create loops potentially hazardous for strangulation, finger-painting kits containing harmful substances, and talking flashcard toys with non-compliant USB cables. The risks include ingestion hazards, skin irritation, reproductive toxicity, and potential overheating leading to injuries.

Additionally, a metallic cake decorating powder by Crumb Australia has been recalled after a 14-month-old child suffered severe health complications from inhaling the toxic substance. The product containing copper and zinc compounds raised concerns over its labeling and safety standards.

Parents are urged to confiscate the toys immediately and follow specific instructions for obtaining refunds from TheKiddoSpace. The metallic cake decorating powder should be disposed of regardless of purchase date or color. The affected products were sold internationally and online.

The child who ingested the baking ingredient is now recovering at home, although he sustained lifelong lung injuries as a result of the incident.
