The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain in South West England starting from midday on February 2 until the following morning, with up to 50mm of rain expected, which could lead to significant travel disruptions and pose a risk to life.
Due to the already saturated ground from recent storms, several areas in the region are at risk of flooding, potentially causing power outages and damage to properties. Individuals in the affected areas are advised to create a flood plan and assemble an emergency flood kit. Residents are urged to prepare a flood kit containing essential items such as torches, batteries, a mobile phone power pack, and other necessities to help them cope in the event of flooding. Storm Chandra has already caused disruptions, including school closures and severe flood warnings in various parts of England, with one issued in Ottery St. Mary, Devon. Tragically, extreme weather conditions led to a fatal accident in Hampshire. Residents are advised to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions to stay safe during the ongoing adverse weather conditions.
