A potential two-day blizzard is on the horizon for the UK next week, as weather maps indicate a snowy end to the month. The GFS weather model projects a significant snowstorm affecting Scotland, Wales, Northern England, and the Midlands starting on February 27.
Anticipated snowfall is expected to cover the west coast from Ullapool down to Manchester, with additional snow likely around Snowdonia in north west Wales. Ireland and Northern Ireland may also experience lighter snow showers starting midday on Friday, February 27.
The snowfall is forecasted to persist into Friday evening, with parts of Scotland expecting up to 10cms of snow accumulation. Overnight into Saturday morning, snow is set to continue falling along the west coast, potentially affecting Glasgow, Blackpool, and Manchester.
By Saturday afternoon, snowfall is projected to reach more areas along the east coast, including Berwick, Fife, and Dundee. The Met Office’s advanced forecast indicates fluctuating weather patterns from February 24 to March 5, with alternating rain and dry intervals, occasional strong winds, and temperatures fluctuating from above average to closer to average.
New weather maps suggest a blizzard may hit major cities such as Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, and Glasgow at the beginning of March. Southern England is expected to receive rain instead of snow during this period. BBC Weather forecasts the possibility of wintry showers at the start of the upcoming month, with temperatures likely to rise slightly above average.
