“UK Couple Ditches Windows for Bali Adventure”

Date:

A couple has made a permanent move from the United Kingdom to Bali to provide their children with a different upbringing in a house without traditional windows or doors. Lucy Argent and her husband, Paul, decided to leave behind their comfortable life in the UK in search of a more fulfilling experience for their children. The couple, aged 41 and 36 respectively, transformed their residence in Cambridgeshire into an Airbnb rental and now reside in a rustic dwelling in Bali with their three kids – seven-year-old Amaya, six-year-old Roo, and four-year-old Lela.

Expressing their contentment with their new lifestyle, Lucy and Paul have no intentions of returning to the UK, even if it means living in a house without enclosed spaces. Lucy, a former owner of beauty salons, and Paul, who worked as a builder, felt constrained by their routine in the UK despite their material success. The allure of a more experiential life motivated their relocation to Bali.

Their current lifestyle in Bali offers them ample outdoor time, minimal television consumption, and increased physical activity due to the tropical climate. The family finds the cost of living more manageable in Bali, allowing them to avoid traditional 9-5 work hours. Lucy, who has been in Bali for two years, shares their unique living experience on social media platforms like TikTok, where she has gained a substantial following.

Their unconventional home in Bali features a villa with no windows or doors, emphasizing an open living concept that blends indoor and outdoor spaces seamlessly. The family’s living room overlooks a swimming pool, providing a social atmosphere within the villa. Despite the open design, the home is equipped with air conditioning and fans for comfort, while incense helps repel mosquitoes. The bedroom boasts a traditional high ceiling, adding a touch of character, and the bathroom is located outdoors but maintains privacy.

Reflecting on their transition to Bali, Lucy acknowledges the initial strangeness of their living arrangements but now considers it a normal and desirable lifestyle for families. She envisions designing their future villa in a similar open-plan style, appreciating the traditional and family-friendly aspects of their current living situation.
