“UK lifts UAE travel restriction amidst ongoing Middle East tensions”

Date:

The Foreign Office has removed its travel restriction for the United Arab Emirates that had been in place since March due to the conflict in the Middle East. The advisory was updated today, no longer discouraging travel to the region.

Despite this change, the Foreign Office continues to caution British citizens about potential risks in the area. In light of recent developments between the US and Iran regarding the Middle East conflict, the situation remains uncertain, and sudden attacks may occur.

In the event of renewed hostilities, British nationals are advised to stay vigilant. Prior to the ceasefire on April 8, the Iranian government had expressed intentions to target US and Israeli-affiliated sites in the Gulf. This included organizations, businesses, infrastructure, and facilities linked to the US and Israel. Iran has a history of targeting various civilian structures in the region, such as ports, hotels, roads, energy facilities, and airports.
