UK Mother in Coma in Gran Canaria Battling Sepsis

Date:

A mother from the UK who is in a coma in Gran Canaria has contracted sepsis, as confirmed by her family. Initially diagnosed with pneumonia, the doctors decided to drain fluid from her lungs while she was placed in an induced coma during a family vacation. There were signs of improvement, but her condition has now worsened with the presence of sepsis in her bloodstream.

Her husband, Jamie, provided an update stating that the medical team detected the sepsis early and initiated antibiotic treatment. However, recent developments have shown a setback as the pneumonia has resurged in her lungs, and the appropriate antibiotics for the infection are yet to be identified, requiring further blood tests.

When admitted, doctors in Gran Canaria requested £3,000 upfront for a CT scan. Emily, residing in Merseyside with Jamie and their children, did not disclose her recent pneumonia episode to her insurance company before traveling, potentially rendering her insurance invalid.

Due to financial constraints, Jamie had to return to England to arrange childcare for their children before returning to Spain. The family has faced challenges reaching out to the insurance provider. To cover medical expenses and bring Emily back home, Jamie has launched a GoFundMe page, emphasizing the urgency of the situation and the need for support.

The fundraising campaign has raised £11,000 towards its £15,000 goal at the time of this report. Donations can be made through the provided link for those willing to assist during this difficult time.
