“UK Set for Early Summer Heatwave, 26C Expected”

Date:

Britain is set to experience another round of early summer warmth in the coming days, according to weather forecasters. Recent weather maps indicate that temperatures will rise to 26C in parts of southern and eastern England, with 14 counties expected to see the hottest conditions. Projections from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) show the development of high pressure over much of the UK by June 15, bringing calm weather and sunshine to many regions.

Typically, the temperature in early June in the UK seldom exceeds 20C. However, ongoing high pressure systems outside the UK led to record-breaking heat in May, with the hottest day ever recorded at 35.1C in Kew Gardens, southwest London. Meteorologists anticipate a similar trend for June.

Recent forecasts for June point to milder temperatures concentrated in the South East of England, East Anglia, and parts of the Midlands, with Scotland and Northern Ireland slightly cooler. Temperature projections from WXCharts suggest highs of 22C to 24C across the Midlands and eastern England, with some areas in the South East, notably Greater London, reaching up to 25C or 26C, making them the warmest regions in the country.

The Met Office’s mid-range forecast indicates a shift towards higher pressure and more settled conditions, particularly in the southern regions. Multiple locations across various counties are expected to experience temperatures between 24C and 26C, with minimal to no rainfall predicted for most areas.

The counties likely to enjoy the warmest temperatures include Kent, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Surrey, East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, and Oxfordshire.
