A significant portion of the United Kingdom is expected to enjoy temperatures reaching up to 22C based on new weather forecasts. The areas anticipated to experience highs of 22C by the evening of Friday, May 22, include West Sussex, East Sussex, Surrey, Kent, Greater London, and Essex as indicated by maps provided by WXCharts utilizing MetDesk data.
The warmest temperatures are likely to be observed in sheltered inland regions away from the coastline, particularly in eastern Kent, around the Thames Estuary, parts of Essex and Suffolk, and areas near the Norfolk-Suffolk border. In other areas of southern England and south Wales, temperatures are forecasted to remain in the high teens.
Moving northwards, the forecasts suggest cooler but still relatively mild conditions. Much of the Midlands is expected to have highs in the late teens, while northern Wales, northern England, and Scotland may see temperatures ranging from around 13C to 17C. Northern Ireland could experience slightly warmer weather, with temperatures hovering around 18C in certain locations.
Looking ahead to the period from Thursday, May 14, to Saturday, May 23, the Met Office predicts changeable and unsettled conditions with spells of rain or showers, at times heavy, interspersed with drier intervals. Towards the end of this period, there is a possibility of increased pressure towards the southwest, potentially leading to drier weather in that area.
Looking further into the future, from Sunday, May 24, to Sunday, June 7, the Met Office suggests that compared to earlier in May, more settled weather patterns are likely towards the end of the month. While occasional rain and showers may still occur, longer periods of fine and dry weather are expected. Temperatures are anticipated to return close to average, potentially becoming warm at times. Moving into June, a mix of conditions is expected, including rain, showers, and occasional dry spells.
