Ukraine has intensified its assaults on Russian positions in Crimea, which was annexed by Russia, in a bold move to isolate it from mainland Russia.
Special forces from Kyiv collaborated with Crimea resistance fighters to demolish a crucial logistics bridge in Crimea and targeted over 60 Russian military sites overnight.
These actions came after a series of drone and missile attacks on both sides of the Kerch Strait and the destruction of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s £3 billion bridge connecting the two territories. A Ukrainian source stated, “This strike severely impacts Putin as the bridge, a symbol of his expanding influence, has been severed, disconnecting Crimea after 12 years of unlawful annexation.”
President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine revealed that Russia is relocating air defense systems closer to Moscow and the Kerch Bridge in response to the situation. He emphasized that Ukraine is preparing justified countermeasures against Russia’s prolonged warfare and reiterated the importance of diplomatic resolutions.
Ukrainian forces have plunged half of Crimea into darkness by targeting power plants and gas distribution stations, leading to electricity shortages and fuel scarcities. The assaults also included the destruction of a drone training facility in Donetsk as part of the strategy to isolate Crimea.
Explosions reverberated across Crimea overnight, causing the closure of the Kerch Bridge and disrupting traffic flow to the peninsula. These coordinated attacks aim to pressure Russia into halting the conflict by targeting its energy supplies.
In retaliation, Russia has launched deadly strikes across Ukraine, resulting in the deaths of nine individuals. The attacks claimed lives in various regions, including Kryvyi Rig, where two men and a woman were killed, as well as in Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson, where additional casualties occurred.
The ongoing conflict highlights the escalating tensions between Ukraine and Russia, with both sides engaging in strategic maneuvers to gain leverage and assert dominance.
