Police have shared surveillance video footage as they urgently seek a woman who boarded a bus before she mysteriously disappeared a week ago.
Concerns are mounting for Vitoria Figueiredo-Barreto, who hails from Brazil and was last spotted at the University of Essex campus on March 3. The 30-year-old psychologist was seen on CCTV boarding a local bus and reaching Brightlingsea at 2:30 pm.
When she boarded the 87 service last Tuesday, Vitoria was clad in a dark coat, blue turtleneck jumper, light blue jeans, and black trainers. Additional footage suggests she climbed over a boatyard fence shortly after midnight on March 4.
The search for the psychology student is ongoing, with authorities expressing deep worry over her sudden disappearance while she was in the UK exploring the possibility of pursuing a doctorate.
Vitoria had been staying with a female friend in Colchester, Essex, and engaging in research and academic activities at the University of Essex during her UK visit. Her belongings were discovered on Copperas Road by a passerby yesterday.
Her friend, Liliane Silva, mentioned that Vitoria had plans to work on a project at the university library before going missing. They had also intended to visit Cambridge together over the weekend. Liliane expressed their distress and urged for help in locating Vitoria, emphasizing her positive impact on the world.
Essex Police are committed to locating Vitoria, with Detective Superintendent Anna Granger emphasizing the significance of the search efforts and the community’s role in providing any information or CCTV footage that might assist in the search.
