“Welsh Bartender Wins £3.5M Cornwall Mansion in Omaze Draw”

Date:

Darren Summers, a 50-year-old barman from Rhondda Fawr valley, South Wales, recently won a £3.5 million mansion in Cornwall through an Omaze competition. The stunning four-bedroom contemporary home, located above Downderry Beach, features a heated outdoor swimming pool, a hot tub, and breathtaking sea views. Darren, who entered the draw for £20 via his Omaze subscription, and his wife, Rebecca, a 36-year-old Healthcare Support Assistant with the NHS, are now the proud owners of this mortgage-free property.

Upon receiving the news, Darren jokingly announced, “drinks are on the house tonight” to his customers at the pub. In addition to the mansion, Darren also received £250,000 in cash to assist with settling in, covering all stamp duty and legal fees. The couple, who have lived in a three-bedroom house for the past three years, were astonished by the unexpected win.

Reflecting on the life-changing event, Darren expressed gratitude for the newfound financial security, emphasizing the relief from past hardships. The luxurious mansion, spanning 3,425 sq ft over two floors, boasts floor-to-ceiling glass doors, a coastal dining terrace, and a spacious living area. The property also includes a sculpture garden with original artworks, a wood-lined hot tub, and ample parking with an electric car charging point.

Excited about their new abode, Darren and Rebecca are looking forward to hosting family gatherings and enjoying summers by the pool. Darren mentioned that the win came at a perfect time for their close-knit family, bringing joy and stability after facing difficult circumstances. Omaze, in partnership with the Eden Project, raised £4.5 million for charity through the competition, further contributing to positive environmental initiatives.

Matt Pohlson, the CEO of Omaze, expressed delight at Darren’s win and highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting charities through such competitions. Entries for the next Omaze Million Pound House Draw in Surrey are now open on omaze.co.uk, offering participants a chance to win another remarkable property while contributing to charitable causes.
