Woman Admits Guilt in Fatal Dog Attack

Date:

A young woman has confessed to being responsible for a dangerously uncontrollable XL bully dog that fatally attacked a teenager.

Kelcie Reed, aged 24, has pleaded guilty to having control over a dog that was dangerously out of control, resulting in fatal injuries to Morgan Dorsett, 19, at a residence in Withywood, Bristol, on February 26 of the previous year.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene at 7:19 pm, but despite their efforts, Morgan tragically succumbed to the injuries sustained during the incident. The victim, a resident of Shrewsbury, Shropshire, suffered fatal bites to her neck during the attack.

Following the incident, the XL bully named Prince was euthanized. Reed, residing at Barrowmead Road, Lawrence Weston, Bristol, only spoke during the court proceedings to enter her guilty plea. She was granted conditional bail until her sentencing scheduled for July 9.

Morgan’s former school head teacher, Pete Lowe-Werrell of Mary Webb School in Pontesbury, near Shrewsbury, paid tribute to her, describing Morgan as a compassionate and thoughtful individual with a promising future.

Detective Sergeant Rich Glanville from Avon and Somerset Police stated that Reed’s court appearance marked a significant development in the investigation into Morgan’s tragic death, with ongoing support provided to the victim’s family.

In the aftermath of the incident, Morgan’s family has called for stricter regulations regarding dangerous dogs and has vowed to advocate for change in her memory. Her mother, Marie Smith, emphasized the need for more stringent checks and regulations for owning such animals, comparing the lack of oversight to the regulations in place for owning firearms.
