A woman in her forties was found dead on a street in Thorpe St Andrew, Norwich, with a man in his sixties arrested on suspicion of her murder, believed to have known the victim. The incident occurred just before 11:45 pm on Saturday, prompting a swift response from police and emergency services. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene in Catherine Gardens.
Norfolk Police disclosed that the arrest took place in Dereham Road early this morning, and the suspect is currently in custody. An investigation is ongoing, with detectives focusing on two key locations where a police presence has been established. Yarmouth Road has been closed off for inquiries from the junction with Pound Lane to the junction with School Avenue.
Detective Superintendent Stacey Murray, leading the investigation, emphasized the need for information from the public to piece together the events leading to the woman’s death. Murray stated that while the investigation is in its early stages, it is believed that the individuals involved were acquainted with each other. The police issued a statement urging anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist the investigation process.
