“Woman Leaves Note Before Tragic Death, Husband on Trial for Manslaughter”

Date:

A court was informed that a woman left a note before taking her life, expressing her inability to endure the situation any longer due to her husband’s actions. Prosecutors allege that Tarryn Baird, aged 34, decided to end her life to escape the continuous physical and sexual abuse inflicted by Christoper Trybus. In the note she left for her family, she asked for forgiveness and described the dark feelings overwhelming her, indicating that she was now liberated.

Trybus, 43, is facing trial for manslaughter, accused of ensnaring Ms. Baird in an abusive relationship by isolating her, controlling her finances, and monitoring her movements. Allegations suggest that he engaged in a sustained pattern of coercive control and abuse within their marriage. The court heard that Ms. Baird concealed her injuries as accidents, while in reality, she was enduring a series of abusive incidents.

The prosecution claimed that Trybus subjected Ms. Baird to extensive controlling and manipulative behavior, including sexual violence. The abusive behavior reportedly took place over a prolonged period, leading to Ms. Baird’s tragic decision to take her own life in November 2017. The court emphasized that Trybus is legally responsible for her death.

The couple, originally from South Africa, relocated to the UK in 2007 and got married in 2009. Trybus, residing in Swindon, was accused of exerting control over various aspects of their relationship through threats and fear of violence. This alleged abuse allegedly contributed to Ms. Baird’s deteriorating mental health and her eventual decision to end her life.

Despite considering leaving Trybus on multiple occasions, Ms. Baird reportedly felt constrained by his control and feared the repercussions of attempting to escape. She ultimately resorted to taking her own life as a way to break free from his dominance. The court was informed that she left a note apologizing to her family, expressing her inner turmoil and seeking their forgiveness.

As the series of abusive incidents intensified, Ms. Baird sought help from Swindon Women’s Aid and her GP, indicating her struggles with mental health. The court was told that she revealed instances of rape and physical violence inflicted by Trybus, showcasing the extent of the abusive behavior she endured.

Trybus, a software consultant who frequently traveled abroad, is accused of raping Ms. Baird on multiple occasions and engaging in manipulative tactics to discredit her. The trial is ongoing, with Trybus denying all charges.
