The identity of a young woman who was discovered deceased at a Wetherspoon establishment has been revealed during an inquest where the cause of her death remains undetermined.
Kelsey O’Connor, aged 19, was found unconscious at The Mannamead in Plymouth’s Mutley district on March 31. Emergency services were summoned around 7:30 am, leading to the establishment of a cordon in an alleyway behind the venue.
An inquest into Kelsey’s passing commenced recently, with reports indicating that law enforcement responded to a report of an unresponsive female at the pub. The individual was later identified as Kelsey, and despite paramedics’ efforts, she was declared deceased.
During the inquest opening, Area Coroner Deborah Archer stated that Devon and Cornwall Police had confirmed no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident, as reported by Plymouth Live.
The exact cause of Kelsey’s death has not yet been determined, as disclosed in the hearing.
A representative from Wetherspoons commented on the incident, stating: “A serious incident occurred behind the Mannamead prior to the pub’s opening on March 31, 2026. Our management acted swiftly and is cooperating with the ongoing police investigation.
“The pub will remain closed today as this issue is addressed. We thank our patrons and the local community for their understanding.”
