A young girl was bitten by a venomous snake concealed under an Amazon package, leading to a frightening incident for the family. Addy, the three-year-old daughter of Manuel Barajas, encountered a Southern Pacific rattlesnake in Santa Clarita, California, while retrieving a gift from a delivered parcel. The snake, hidden under the package, bit Addy’s left hand as she picked it up. Promptly, her mother, Lynn, rushed her to first responders at a nearby supermarket parking lot, who then transported her to a hospital for antivenom treatment.
Addy spent two nights in a pediatric intensive care unit, undergoing two additional rounds of antivenom therapy, but fortunately, she has shown significant recovery. Barajas mentioned in an interview with KTLA that Addy is currently doing well, with about 70 percent of her recovery complete. Despite being bruised on her left hand from the snake bite, Addy’s spirits remain high, though she wonders why the incident occurred.
Barajas, who was away on business during the incident, hurried back home to support his family. However, they are now facing substantial medical expenses for Addy’s hospitalization, antivenom treatments, and time in the pediatric ICU. Barajas had to take time off work to care for his family after the traumatic snake bite incident.
Seeking financial assistance, Barajas created a GoFundMe page to cover the unexpected costs, stating, “I’m reaching out for help after a terrifying experience that turned our world upside down.” The family is overwhelmed by the expenses and is grateful for any support during this challenging period. The GoFundMe campaign has already raised over $13,800 from generous donors.
