A 12-year-old boy tragically passed away after being hit by a car driven by a teenager in Essex, as revealed in court proceedings.
The 15-year-old defendant, unnamed for legal purposes, along with 43-year-old William Lunnon, faced charges of murdering Bobby Bloomfield at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court.
Authorities were alerted to the incident on Ashwells Road in Pilgrims Hatch around 5:40 pm on a Sunday, where Bobby had been struck by a vehicle, sustaining severe injuries that led to his death despite medical efforts.
During the court session, prosecutor Rohini Majumdar detailed that Lunnon had confronted Bobby and his friends on private property, instructing them to leave. Allegedly, the boys fled but were pursued by the defendants in a car driven by the teenage defendant.
The vehicle reportedly hit Bobby, after which the teenager physically assaulted him before abandoning him at the roadside. Lunnon, residing on Ashwells Road, was detained in custody, while the 15-year-old was remanded to a youth detention center.
In the courtroom, the teenager, dressed in a quarter-zip jumper and jeans, confirmed his personal details and acknowledged that the case would proceed to a Crown court. Meanwhile, Lunnon, attired in a grey prison tracksuit, also verified his information. Both are scheduled to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court for a preliminary hearing.
Bobby’s family, in a statement conveyed through Essex Police, expressed the profound loss they are experiencing, emphasizing the irreplaceable brightness and joy Bobby brought to their lives.
Additionally, authorities had arrested two men aged 65 and 54, as well as two women aged 65 and 45, on suspicion of obstructing justice in connection with the incident.
