“13-Year-Old Suspect Stabs Two at London School”

Date:

A former student, believed to be a 13-year-old, is suspected of stabbing two boys at Kingsbury High School in Brent, northwest London. The incident occurred during lunchtime on Tuesday, leaving the victims seriously injured but in stable condition, with non-life-threatening wounds.

Following the attack, the suspect fled the scene but was apprehended later on suspicion of attempted murder. Law enforcement is currently examining the suspect’s electronic devices and interviewing numerous witnesses to determine the motive behind the assault.

Reports suggest that the assailant may have been a former student at the school, as indicated by witness accounts, including the grandchildren of a 60-year-old man who mentioned that the attacker was wearing the school uniform, causing distress to the students.

An eyewitness, whose daughter attends the school, shared harrowing details of the incident, describing the chaos that ensued after the attack in a science classroom, where blood was visible on a window, causing significant distress to the students.

Political figures, including Sir Keir Starmer and Schools Minister Georgia Gould, have condemned the stabbing, with discussions on potential security enhancements in schools. However, the government has ruled out the installation of metal detectors.

Law enforcement officials are investigating the incident, with the suspect, believed to be 13 years old, in custody on suspicion of attempted murder. The authorities are working swiftly to gather evidence and understand the motives behind the attack.

Although initial reports suggest a potential terrorist connection due to the circumstances, the incident has not been classified as a terrorist act. The police are actively working with counter-terrorism units to ascertain the full details surrounding the stabbing.

Amid claims that the suspect uttered phrases similar to “Allahu Akbar” during the attack, the school’s headteacher addressed the incident as a traumatic event for the school community, ensuring that the situation is under control and investigations are ongoing.

Following the incident, students were provided with support and counseling, with the lower school closed temporarily while the upper school remained open for specific year groups. Parents and officials expressed shock and concern over the violent episode at the school.

Various public figures, including Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood and Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson, extended their sympathies to the victims and emphasized the need to address school safety and prevent such incidents in the future.

Local authorities, emergency services, and school staff were praised for their rapid response to the incident, with efforts focused on ensuring the safety and well-being of the students and restoring a sense of security in the school environment.

Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, urged the public to come forward with any information related to the attack, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in preventing violence and maintaining safety in the city.
