Two trains carrying around 600 passengers collided with a stranded vehicle on railway tracks in a recent rail incident. The incident occurred in Błonie, Poland, at a level crossing on Poniatowskiego Street on January 25.
According to reports from the Polish media outlet PolsatNews, a Ford Focus broke down at the crossing, and the driver’s attempts to move the vehicle failed. Subsequently, an Intercity train traveling from Szczecin Główny to Rzeszów Główny hit the car, pushing it to the opposite track. A second train then collided with the vehicle, which had reportedly caught fire by that time.
Deputy Inspector Ewelina Gromek-Oćwieja of the Warsaw West District Police stated that the Ford Focus broke down at the level crossing and was struck by the first Intercity train. The car was then hit by a second Intercity train on the opposite track.
Fortunately, all 600 passengers from both trains were safely evacuated, and no casualties have been reported.
