“7-Eleven to Close 645 Stores Nationwide by 2026”

Date:

A well-known chain of convenience stores in the US is set to shut down 645 locations nationwide as part of its ongoing efforts to consolidate operations. 7-Eleven is currently undergoing liquidation procedures and offering substantial discounts at their outlets.

According to a report by C-Store Dive, at least 645 7-Eleven stores in North America will be closing by the end of fiscal year 2026. One of the affected stores is situated in Penacook, New Hampshire, near Concord’s northern border.

The Penacook store will permanently close its doors on May 20 following its acquisition by a new owner. This closure is aligned with the company’s strategy to transition towards larger, food-centric locations.

To clear out inventory before the shutdown, the Penacook store at Thirty Pines has slashed prices on its merchandise. Initially offering a 50% discount, the store quickly increased the markdown to 75% by Tuesday afternoon.

Expressing gratitude to loyal customers, a message posted outside the store acknowledged the community’s support over the years. The note conveyed appreciation for being a part of customers’ daily lives and interactions.

Despite the closures, 7-Eleven has ambitious plans to open 1,300 new locations between 2025 and 2030. This marks the fifth consecutive year where the chain has closed more stores than it has opened.
