The top waterparks in the world have been ranked, and for British visitors, there’s a great option in the top three that doesn’t require a long-distance trip but still offers a wide range of exciting water activities.
Topping the list is Universal Orlando Volcano Bay in the USA, followed by Thermas dos Laranjais in Brazil, a highly visited park worldwide. The third spot goes to AREA 47 in Austria, providing a more outdoorsy experience amidst mountain landscapes.
Located in the Tyrol region of Austria, AREA 47 transforms into the country’s largest outdoor leisure park during the summer months, boasting over 40 thrilling water attractions. Unlike typical indoor waterparks, AREA 47 is set around a natural lake, emphasizing adrenaline-inducing outdoor experiences.
Operating from mid-May to October, AREA 47 features a sprawling inflatable obstacle course on the lake, a towering diving platform, and one of Europe’s steepest waterslides with a 70° incline. Visitors can also enjoy Blobbing, Cannonball, cliff diving, and unwind at the beach bar post-adventure.
The rankings, compiled by AttractionTickets.com, highlight the success of American and European waterparks, with UK waterparks falling outside the top ten. Sandcastle Waterpark in Blackpool secured the top UK spot at number 14, offering a heated indoor tropical experience with 18 slides, including the UK’s longest indoor roller coaster waterslide.
Alton Towers Waterpark, ranking 15th, combines indoor and outdoor water fun year-round, featuring high-speed slides like Rampage and Rush. It also offers family-friendly attractions like Wacky Waterworks and Calypso Creek, a relaxing lazy river experience.
