A tragic plane crash in Colombia has resulted in the loss of all passengers and crew members aboard, as confirmed by authorities. The incident took place during a flight between the Cúcuta and Ocaña municipalities in Colombia, where the aircraft was reported missing, leading to the establishment of a crisis committee by local officials.
The plane was carrying a total of 13 passengers and two crew members. Among those onboard were Diogenes Quintero, a representative from the Partido de la U party in the House, and Carlos Salcedo, a candidate for the peace seats. Satena airline released a passenger list confirming the presence of these individuals on the flight.
Satena issued a statement expressing condolences to the families of the victims and pledged full cooperation in the investigation of the crash. The airline provided details of the aircraft, registration HK-4709, and the flight route it was operating.
Colombia’s armed forces, along with the ELN guerrilla group, participated in the search efforts in the region where the plane went down. Radar data indicated the aircraft’s final recorded position in the Catatumbo region between the municipalities of Hacarí and La Playa de Belén, with the scheduled landing time around noon local time.
The last communication with air traffic control occurred at 4:55 PM UK time (11:55 AM local time), according to Satena Airlines. Flight NSE 8849, which departed at 11:42 AM and was expected to land at 12:05 PM, reported its final contact with air traffic control at 11:54 AM.
The airline emphasized its commitment to assisting the families of the victims and determining the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
