Sky has introduced two new smart home plans in the UK, offering internet-connected cameras with cloud recordings starting at just £5 per month. This competitive pricing is positioned as a cost-saving alternative to purchasing a Ring system through Amazon, potentially saving consumers over £100.
The plans come in two options: the first includes a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month with a £15 upfront fee. It features full HD video recording, instant alerts to your phone, customisable activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud video storage.
For additional security features, the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ is available for £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and enhanced app functionalities like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.
Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the focus on making high-quality smart technology more accessible and user-friendly. The new plans aim to broaden the availability of Sky’s home security devices, shifting from mainly offering bundled cameras and alarms through Protect Smart Home Insurance to standalone services.
In comparison, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, with an additional cost for cloud recording access through a Ring Protect subscription starting at £4.99 per month.
