Multiple individuals have been swiftly transported to medical facilities following a vehicle collision at a bustling pub.
The tragic incident occurred at Murphy’s Irish Pub’s outdoor patio, situated at the intersection of Pacific Avenue and 30th Street in Virginia Beach. The Virginia Beach Police reported the event around 7:45 pm on Friday.
According to a police representative, the victims were taken to nearby hospitals with injuries ranging from severe to minor, as reported by WAVY TV 10, the local NBC affiliate.
Images captured at the scene depict the car crashing through the pub’s fence after mounting the sidewalk.
Daniel Auxier, a valet worker nearby, described hearing screeching tires and witnessing the chaos unfold. He recounted seeing debris and smoke flying into the air and observed the passenger remaining seated without getting up.
Auxier noted that the pub’s patio was crowded with patrons at the time of the accident.
Upon reaching out to the Virginia Beach Police Department for comment, they confirmed responding to a pedestrian-involved crash on Pacific Ave. The department stated that individuals were taken to hospitals with varying degrees of injuries and that the investigation is ongoing.
The cause of the crash and any potential arrests remain unclear at this time.
