Apple has appointed John Ternus as its new CEO following the announcement of Tim Cook stepping down. Cook, who took over as Apple’s CEO in 2011 after Steve Jobs resigned due to health reasons, will continue as executive chair at the company.
Expressing his gratitude, Cook stated, “It has been the greatest privilege of my life to lead such an extraordinary company. I am thankful for the opportunity to work with an exceptional team dedicated to enhancing customer experiences and creating top-notch products and services.”
The 65-year-old Cook will collaborate with Ternus during the transition period, after which he will contribute to specific company aspects, including engaging with policymakers globally.
The decision received unanimous approval from the Board of Directors. Ternus, previously the senior vice president of Hardware Engineering at Apple, expressed his appreciation, saying, “I am deeply thankful for the chance to continue Apple’s mission. Working at Apple for most of my career under Steve Jobs and with Tim Cook as my mentor has been a privilege.”
Ternus added, “I am optimistic about our future achievements and proud to be part of a team dedicated to a larger collective goal. Stepping into this role humbly, I pledge to lead with the core values that have defined Apple for decades.”
