The call for increased paternal involvement comes ahead of the Childhood in the Age of AI summit scheduled for Monday, where Technology Secretary Liz Kendall and the NSPCC will convene with young individuals to explore the influence of AI and technology on childhood development.
Expressing personal challenges in monitoring his own children’s online activities, Mr. Starmer emphasized the collective responsibility shared by parents nationwide. Stressing the significance of fathers’ perspectives, he underscored the need for major social media platforms to enhance their child protection measures promptly.

Moreover, Technology Secretary Liz Kendall emphasized the importance of gathering insights from young people before the consultation period concludes, citing the current limited involvement of children in the feedback process.
The forthcoming summit at Wilton Park will assemble policymakers, tech industry representatives, and advocates for online safety, underscoring a collaborative effort to address digital security concerns.
