“Glasgow Neighborhood Shocked by Deliberate Car Arson”

Date:

Residents of a peaceful residential neighborhood were startled awake by a significant car fire that erupted following a deliberate act of arson. The incident occurred on Meiklerig Crescent in the Pollok area of Glasgow late Thursday night, around 10:30 pm, prompting a swift response from emergency services. Police Scotland has confirmed that the fire was intentionally set and their investigation is ongoing.

According to eyewitnesses, nearby children were asleep in their homes when the car was set ablaze, narrowly avoiding a potential disaster as the flames quickly engulfed the vehicle. Fortunately, emergency responders arrived promptly and extinguished the fire before it could spread to neighboring houses.

Describing the scene, a bystander mentioned, “The car caught fire rapidly, but thankfully, it was contained before reaching the nearby residences.” The incident, suspected to involve a petrol bomb thrown into the vehicle, highlights the concerning nature of such destructive acts in a typically tranquil neighborhood.

A spokesperson from Police Scotland reported that authorities were alerted to the fire at approximately 10:20 pm on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, in the Meiklerig Crescent vicinity. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service successfully extinguished the blaze, and the case is being treated as a deliberate act, with investigations ongoing.
