One of the soldiers killed in a drone strike in the Middle East conflict was tragically close to reuniting with her husband and children. The United States revealed the identities of four Army Reserve soldiers who lost their lives in a drone attack on a command center in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait, on March 1. Among them was Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, 39, from Minnesota, who was just days away from returning home to her family.
Sgt. Amor’s husband, Joey Amor, expressed the anxiety they had experienced leading up to the attack, noting her sense of impending danger. Joint military actions by Israel and the US targeted key Iranian sites, resulting in escalated tensions with Iran retaliating across the region.
Prior to the fatal incident, Sgt. Amor had been relocated to a vulnerable shipping container-style building off-base due to security concerns. Her husband mentioned that the soldiers were scattered to minimize the risk of an attack on their base, seeking safety in smaller groups in various locations.
Tragically, Sgt. Amor and her husband last exchanged messages shortly before the attack, sharing lighthearted banter. The soldiers were all members of the 103rd Sustainment Command based in Des Moines, Iowa. Three other fallen service members have been identified as part of the same unit.
