The family of Virginia Giuffre has issued a heartfelt appeal for King Charles to meet with them during his upcoming visit to the United States. Sky Roberts, the brother of Ms. Giuffre, emphasized that a meeting between the monarch and survivors of Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted pedophile financier, would demonstrate unity and support for their cause. King Charles and Queen Camilla are scheduled to arrive in the US for a four-day visit, where they are expected to meet with President Donald Trump.
Mr. Roberts expressed that this visit presents a perfect opportunity for King Charles to spend just 10 minutes with their family to humanize their experience and emotions. Speaking on Newsnight, Mr. Roberts stressed the importance of the King standing in solidarity with survivors, highlighting their proximity to the locations the King will be visiting.
In addition to the planned events, Charles and the Queen will be honored guests at a White House banquet and Charles will address a joint meeting of the US Congress. Recent revelations from a BBC investigation indicated that Epstein continued to house women in London after authorities declined to investigate Ms. Giuffre’s initial allegation in 2015.
Mr. Roberts criticized the systematic failures of both the FBI and the Metropolitan Police in handling the case, mentioning that earlier intervention could have prevented years of abuse. The Roberts family, along with Lisa Phillips, another survivor, called for a public inquiry into the allegations against Epstein in the UK, citing the need for further investigation given the recent findings.
Controversy arose in Congress over reports that some Republican members of a key committee investigating Epstein were considering granting clemency to Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former partner, in exchange for her cooperation in providing evidence.
