Lucy Letby, currently in prison, sent a letter containing a disturbing five-word confession, a recent documentary has disclosed. Letby, a former neonatal nurse, was convicted for the murders of seven babies at the Countess of Chester Hospital between June 2015 and 2016.
The documentary, titled ‘The Investigation of Lucy Letby,’ delves into her crimes and features new footage and documents sent by Letby to her representatives, who are working to appeal her 15 life sentences. In one of the documents, Letby expressed her determination to challenge the convictions in a lengthy letter to a close friend.
Maisie, a nurse friend of Letby, who has known her since their time at the University of Chester, shared insights in the documentary. Letby, in a letter to Maisie, affirmed her resolve by stating, “I will not give up.”
Letby described her prison experience at GMP Bronzefield in Surrey, mentioning the importance of friendship and daily routines like showering and outdoor walks. Despite missing her pets and family, Letby expressed her determination to stay positive and strong throughout her ordeal.
The documentary also included footage of Letby’s arrests, including a scene where she was escorted by police from her parents’ home. Letby’s parents, Susan and John, broke their silence, stating they would not watch the documentary due to the emotional toll it would take on them.
They expressed distress over the invasion of privacy in the documentary and previous media coverage, emphasizing the difficulty of seeing Letby in handcuffs on television. The parents highlighted their decision not to view the documentary to protect their emotional well-being.
