James Harrison Trimble-Pettit, the owner of the dogs named Via and Ares, faced the consequences of their escape from his residence in Main Street, Stonnall. The dogs inflicted fatal injuries on Ian Price, despite efforts by bystanders to intervene.
The incident led to the death of Mr. Price, with one dog also perishing during the attack, and the other being euthanized by a veterinarian. Trimble-Pettit initially claimed innocence, stating that he had securely left the dogs inside his home before the incident occurred. However, investigations revealed that the property’s windows and doors were functional, and it was known that the dogs had a history of escaping and displaying aggressive behavior.
