At least seven individuals sustained injuries following a hotel ceiling collapse on Easter Sunday. The incident occurred at Poseidón Palace, a well-liked tourist hotel in Benidorm. Approximately 60 guests were dining when sections of plasterboard and air conditioning ducts fell on them.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, treating victims including an eight-year-old boy and a 78-year-old man who were later discharged after medical care. Five others, aged between 33 and 80, were hospitalized, with one currently under observation at Hospital de la Marina Baixa as reported by local media.
CICU officials mobilized SAMU medical units, basic life support teams, and non-assisted transport teams to manage the situation. Red Cross personnel provided assistance to those affected during the chaotic incident at the popular Costa Blanca resort.
The cause of the collapse at the three-star hotel remains unclear at this time. Benidorm has experienced similar incidents in the past, despite being renowned for its vibrant nightlife, array of hotels and skyscrapers, sandy beaches, and other attractions. The town is a favored destination for various events, with visitors praising its Old Town and the natural beauty of its rugged coastlines.
In 2025, Visit Benidorm’s annual report revealed that the Spanish hotspot welcomed over three million visitors, with an estimated 900,000 arriving from the UK. The Mirror reached out to Poseidón Palace for comment but has not received a response yet.
