“Trump Declares US Navy Blockade of Strait of Hormuz”

Date:

Former US President Donald Trump has declared that the US navy will initiate a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz while asserting that Iran’s navy has been severely damaged. Trump made this announcement on Truth Social, stating that the US military has enforced the blockade in response to the ongoing standoff with Iran.

In a post on social media, Trump claimed that Iran’s Navy has been decimated, with 158 ships destroyed, except for their “fast attack ships,” which were not considered a significant threat. He warned that any Iranian ships approaching the blockade would be swiftly eliminated using a ruthless tactic similar to the one employed against drug traffickers at sea.

The conflict between Iran and the US escalated on February 28 when Iran blocked the vital global shipping route that carries over 20 percent of the world’s oil and gas. Following failed negotiations in Islamabad, Trump indicated his intention to take unilateral action by preventing all ships, including those paying tolls to Iran, from passing through the strait.

On Sunday, Trump announced that the US would start intercepting and blocking all vessels in international waters that had paid fees to Iran. While Trump mentioned the involvement of “other countries” in the blockade, the UK was reported not to be participating.

Trump emphasized that no ship paying an illegal toll would be safe in international waters and pledged to remove any mines laid by Iran in the strait. He also warned that any Iranian aggression towards US or peaceful vessels would be met with force.

Trump’s recent statements on social media indicate his belief that Iran’s military forces have been crippled, with their Navy, Air Force, and Leaders allegedly eliminated. He reiterated the US readiness to resume hostilities and finish what remains of Iran’s military capabilities.

The escalating tensions between the US and Iran have been characterized by Trump’s provocative remarks on social media, drawing criticism from UK Minister Wes Streeting. Trump’s primary concern regarding Iran revolves around preventing the country from acquiring or expanding its nuclear capabilities, despite Tehran’s consistent denial of seeking nuclear weapons.
