Multiple casualties have been reported following a collision between two trains near Kagerup in North Zealand, Denmark this morning. The incident occurred before 6.30 am local time north of Copenhagen, injuring up to 17 individuals, with five of them in critical condition.

The collision took place on a train route connecting Hillerod and Kagerup. Emergency services, including seven ambulances and a helicopter, have been dispatched to the scene. Initially, officials stated four people were critically injured, but later revised the number to five.

A total of 38 people were on board the two trains, according to a spokesperson for the North Zealand police. The injured individuals have been transported by ambulances and helicopters, as confirmed by the fire department.

The police spokesperson mentioned that all passengers have been evacuated from the trains. Gribskov Mayor Trine Egetved noted that the crash impacted a local rail line frequently used by residents, including schoolchildren.
