“Russian Lawyer Foresees ‘Palace Coup’ Against Putin”

Date:

Vladimir Putin is predicted to face a “palace coup” orchestrated by dissidents within his inner circle who hold animosity towards him, as per a Russian source.

Ilya Remeslo, a lawyer previously known for supporting Russia’s actions in Ukraine and allegedly tied to the Russian security apparatus, made these assertions during a television interview. He provocatively expressed his desire to lead a transformed Russia post a “revolution” and play a part in the power transition.

These bold statements were made in an unconventional interview with Ksenia Sobchak, a well-known media figure referred to as Putin’s “goddaughter.”

Remeslo pointed fingers directly at Putin, attributing the nation’s current challenges to him, stating, “The man at the very top, the one who runs it all,” emphasizing Putin’s responsibility. He further claimed to possess the knowledge necessary to challenge Putin and manipulate the system effectively.

Unlike the late opposition figure Alexei Navalny, Remeslo highlighted that he originates from within the system, aiming to encourage others within to join his cause without fear.

He outlined a vision for a significant shift in the political landscape by 2026-2027, anticipating a significant transformation leading to a new regime. Remeslo assured that the transition would not involve a violent upheaval but rather a subtle change akin to historical political transitions.

The lawyer revealed an alleged resentment towards Putin among high-ranking officials, suggesting that many secretly hold disdain towards the leader due to perceived losses and restrictions imposed by his regime.

Regarding the potential successors to Putin, Remeslo hinted at three individuals, including Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Minister for Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov, and former bodyguard Alexei Dyumin, all with distinct attributes that could influence the future political direction of Russia.

The post-Putin era, as envisioned by Remeslo, is anticipated to embrace right-wing policies fostering a robust economy with favorable conditions for businesses and foreign investments.

Remeslo, who shifted his stance against Putin earlier this year, faced institutional repercussions but has since resurfaced with renewed criticism towards the regime. Speculations suggest that his actions may have silent endorsements from certain factions within the security services.

In summary, the political landscape in Russia appears poised for a potential reshaping led by internal dissension and aspirations for a reformed governance structure post-Putin.
