“Job Terminations Loom as King Foods Enters Administration”

Date:

Dozens of individuals have received notices of job terminations following the collapse of a prominent British food enterprise into administration. King Foods, established in 1994, specialized in supplying frozen foods and fresh fish items to the hotel and retail sectors. Despite its Aberdeen base, the company’s 41 employees have been informed of their imminent redundancy following the appointment of Interpath as administrators.

The company, which faced escalating competition and rising inflation costs, encountered significant challenges in recent years. The firm, named after its late founder John King Sr. who passed away in 2024, was also impacted by the difficulties confronting hospitality and catering businesses. King Foods stopped operations in mid-February, with administrators stepping in shortly thereafter.

Interpath has stated that there is no possibility of resuming business operations at the company, necessitating the unfortunate decision to lay off staff. Geoff Jacobs, the managing director at Interpath, declared plans to initiate the process of marketing the company’s assets, which include its cold storage facility in Aberdeen, vehicle fleet, and other properties.
