Ian Huntley’s daughter has expressed her disdain for her father by stating that he does not deserve a funeral and suggested that his ashes should be disposed of by flushing them down the toilet. Huntley, known for the Soham murders, passed away in the hospital following an alleged assault by fellow inmate and triple murderer Anthony Russell, who reportedly struck him with a sharpened metal pole, causing severe brain injuries.
After Huntley’s death, the Ministry of Justice spokesperson described his crimes against Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman as one of the most shocking cases in the nation’s history. In response, Samantha Bryan, Huntley’s daughter, admitted feeling a sense of relief upon learning of her father’s demise, expressing mixed emotions about the possibility of attending his funeral.
Samantha revealed that prior to his passing, she contemplated verifying his identity in the hospital, fearing that news of his critical condition might be a ruse to facilitate his escape. She also suggested that it would be more appropriate to discard his ashes rather than erecting a headstone, which she believed could attract unwanted attention.
Furthermore, Samantha disclosed her willingness to consider reconnecting with her biological grandmother, Lynda Richards, who had visited Huntley in the hospital before his death. The Durham Constabulary confirmed Huntley’s passing, stating that a police inquiry is ongoing, and a file is being prepared for potential charges related to the incident at HMP Frankland in Durham.
