A fire incident at the Hampton by Hilton Hotel near Stansted Airport led to the evacuation of the premises. Firefighters responded to the call just before 10.30am on Monday and identified the fire on the third floor of the hotel, which boasts numerous guest rooms.
As a safety measure, the hotel was promptly evacuated while firefighters worked to put out the fire and secure the area. Fortunately, all guests and staff were safely evacuated, and there were no reported injuries. The fire was successfully extinguished by 11.15am, within 30 minutes of the firefighters’ arrival, according to Essex County Fire and Rescue Service.
Following the extinguishing of the fire, crews stayed at the hotel to clear smoke by using high-pressure fans for ventilation. An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway.
Station Manager Dan Byatt expressed gratitude for the coordinated efforts of the emergency response teams and partners, including Stansted Airport and Essex Police, in effectively managing the incident and ensuring minimal disruption to flights.
The Hampton By Hilton at London Stansted Airport, situated within a short walking distance from the terminals, was the site of the incident. In a separate occurrence, a fire broke out in a vape shop near Glasgow Central station, resulting in significant travel disruptions. The fire spread quickly to neighboring buildings, causing damage and collapse to a Victorian property, though no injuries were reported.
Sexy Coffee, one of the affected businesses, shared their devastation on Instagram over the loss of their shop due to the fire. The community expressed support for the affected businesses during this challenging time.
