“Snow to Sweep Across UK, Including South Regions”

Date:

New weather maps indicate a drop in temperatures, bringing snow as far south as Cornwall and Devon. This cold spell follows a period of rising temperatures that marked the transition into spring, replacing the previously persistent rainfall. The Met Office forecasts snowfall across various UK regions on March 13, with Scotland experiencing significant snowfall rates of over 4mm per hour in certain areas.

As the day progresses, more regions in the UK will witness snowfall. Scotland, along with parts of Derbyshire and Yorkshire, is expected to be covered in snow and heavy downpours. Later in the evening, the snow is forecasted to reach southern areas such as Devon, Cornwall, Wiltshire, and parts of the Midlands, including Lincolnshire. The upcoming weather is predicted to be cold, with strong winds persisting into the following day.

Looking ahead, the Met Office anticipates variable weather conditions in the coming weeks. Between March 16 and March 25, spells of rain and showers are expected, mainly concentrated in the west or northwest regions with potential strong winds. Despite some drier periods in the south and east, occasional wet weather is possible. Temperatures are projected to be around average during this period, with intermittent colder spells leading to frost and hill snow.

Moving into the Easter period, temperatures are forecasted to remain close to average, with a possibility of temporary colder conditions and frost. From March 26 to April 9, a more stable weather pattern is predicted, potentially with high pressure building to the north or northeast of the UK. While the exact impact on UK weather remains uncertain, this pattern could result in more sustained weather conditions, either settled or unsettled. Overall, temperatures are expected to hover around average, but there is an increased risk of colder intervals bringing frost.
