“Ex-Duchess of York Urged to Testify on Epstein Ties”

Date:

A Democratic House Representative from Virginia, Suhas Subramanyam, has called upon Sarah Ferguson to provide testimony regarding her connections to the late child sex trafficker, Jeffrey Epstein. Subramanyam directly reached out to Ferguson, urging her to share insights on her “close personal and business relationships.” He also inquired about any additional information she might possess regarding her former spouse, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s association with Epstein.

The request made by Subramanyam marks a significant pressure point for the former Duchess of York amidst the unfolding Epstein Files scandal. Ferguson had maintained a longstanding friendship with Epstein and remained in communication with him even following his 2008 conviction for child sex crimes.

In a letter obtained by the BBC, Subramanyam outlined, “I am writing to request your cooperation with the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform’s investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking activities. The Committee is seeking insights from individuals with knowledge of Mr. Epstein’s criminal enterprises, and public records and Department of Justice files suggest your close personal and business connections with Mr. Epstein.”

The letter further stated, “As the Committee pursues justice for the victims of Mr. Epstein’s criminal activities and transparency for the American public, I respectfully ask for your collaboration with the Committee’s inquiry.”

Additionally, the letter referenced specific correspondences indicating Ferguson’s relationship with Epstein, including an email where she referred to Epstein as a “legend” post-conviction and expressed gratitude for his generosity. It also highlighted discussions indicating Epstein’s potential ownership in Ferguson’s company and her direct reach out to Epstein for financial assistance.

The public call for cooperation comes on the heels of Ferguson being stripped of an honor due to her ties with Epstein. Following a unanimous decision, she lost her “Freedom of the City of York” title, which was bestowed upon her during a visit in 1987. The decision was made during an extraordinary meeting in the historic city, where it was deliberated whether to revoke her honorary freedom status that was granted in recognition of her marriage to Prince Andrew.
