UK Braces for Snow and Rain Next Week

Date:

Weather forecasts in the UK indicate that a combination of snow and rain is set to affect numerous regions across the country in the upcoming week.

Between April 2 and April 6, weather maps depict turbulent conditions moving across the UK, with large purple, white, and blue areas suggesting wintry weather patterns. The forecast for April 2 points to an Arctic storm bringing showers that will dominate the country and continue in the following days.

Areas such as Glasgow, Aberdeenshire, Greater Manchester, the West Midlands, and Norfolk are expected to be impacted during this period. WXCharts maps, utilizing Met Desk data, highlight that Scotland, particularly the Highlands, Moray, and Aberdeenshire, will bear the brunt of the Arctic blast, leading to snowfall in these regions, extending towards Aberdeen and northern Angus.

While most regions in the UK will remain dry in the evening, including southern England, some areas like the West Midlands are likely to experience intermittent showers.

The unsettled weather conditions are projected to persist until April 6, with rain affecting southern and eastern England as well as parts of the Midlands, followed by snow in northern England and stretching into Scotland, according to the Express.

Snow accumulation is anticipated in parts of Northumberland, County Durham, and on higher ground in North Yorkshire, with a significant portion of Scotland also expected to be impacted by snowfall. The Met Office Long Range Forecast for April 1 to April 10 indicates varying weather patterns between the North and South of the UK, with a warning about approaching wetter conditions.

The forecast states, “High pressure to the southwest of the UK, along with weather fronts affecting northern parts periodically, is likely to be the prevailing pattern during this period. Northern regions can expect wetter and windier weather, while the southern areas are likely to experience drier and more settled conditions.

“There is a possibility of deeper low-pressure systems moving across the UK, bringing more widespread wet and windy weather. Towards the end of the period, high pressure may extend over much of the UK, leading to generally settled conditions.

“Although temperatures will generally be near or slightly above average, some colder intervals are possible, especially in the north, with potential wintry showers at times.”

This upcoming weather contrasts sharply with recent warm conditions that saw temperatures surpassing 20C in certain parts of the UK, including west Wales, outperforming the temperatures in Greece’s Zante region during that period.
