King Charles has been urged by a US congressman to meet with survivors of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during a potential visit to the United States with Queen Camilla at the end of April. Congressman Ro Khanna, a Democrat and co-author of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, has written a letter to King Charles requesting a private meeting with the victims to listen to their stories and concerns.
The lawmaker pointed out that recent developments in the United Kingdom have brought attention to individuals and institutions linked to Epstein and his network, raising questions about possible misconduct and misuse of public trust. Khanna emphasized that this issue extends beyond the US, as Epstein’s connections to the UK through Ghislaine Maxwell and British public figures highlight the need for a thorough investigation into how Epstein maintained influence and protection across borders.
Buckingham Palace previously expressed sympathy for abuse victims, and Congress has reached out to Prince Andrew and Peter Mandelson to testify before an Oversight Committee regarding their associations with Epstein, although both have denied any wrongdoing. Despite being non-US nationals, the King’s brother and the former UK ambassador to the US were requested to respond to inquiries but did not meet the deadline set by US politicians.
Representative Khanna’s letter to King Charles emphasized the importance of meeting with survivors to gather additional information from British sources and initiate a dialogue on ensuring transparency, accountability, and addressing the operations of Epstein’s network in the UK. King Charles, following his brother’s arrest for alleged misconduct, stated the Palace’s readiness to assist law enforcement if approached for the investigation. Peter Mandelson, also arrested on similar charges, was released on bail.
