A recent report has revealed appalling conditions at Christopher Grange Residential Care in Liverpool, where residents were neglected and left without proper care. The care home, home to 57 individuals including those with dementia, has been placed under special measures by the Care Quality Commission.
Christopher Grange Ltd, the operator of the facility, was found to be violating regulations concerning safe care practices, staffing levels, nutrition, hydration, and safeguarding. Residents were found to be malnourished and dehydrated, with some not receiving essential care services as per their care plans.
Furthermore, documentation indicated that residents were not receiving adequate personal care, including instances where individuals were left without assistance for toileting needs for extended periods. The lack of proper hygiene practices was evident, with dirty mobility aids and unclean communal areas noted by inspectors.
The report also highlighted serious issues with medication safety and infection control throughout the facility. Staff shortages were a significant concern, leading to delays in providing assistance to residents and leaving calls for help unanswered for prolonged periods.
In response to the report, Christopher Grange Ltd acknowledged the findings and emphasized their commitment to addressing the issues raised. They stated that new management and governance structures are in place to monitor care standards closely and implement a comprehensive improvement plan in collaboration with regulatory bodies.
