Sarah Travis, who moved to Queensland with her children after losing her mother to cancer and her brother to suicide, was devastated by the sudden loss of her 72-year-old father, Rob Travis, in a collision on the A59.
Rob, a skilled motorcyclist, suffered fatal head injuries in a crash involving an Audi near Dick Turpins Snack Bar on March 18. The Audi driver, a 46-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drugs.
Sarah is now struggling to raise funds for a flight back home to pay her last respects to her father. With global flight disruptions due to conflicts in the Middle East, the task is proving increasingly difficult. Sarah, 45, expressed her shock and grief over losing her father so suddenly, adding to the pain of losing her mother and brother in previous years.
To gather funds for her journey back, Sarah has initiated a GoFundMe campaign as flight prices have surged, particularly with limited services via stopovers in Dubai. Despite feeling uncomfortable asking for financial help, she acknowledges the necessity of the situation and the challenges posed by the high costs of flights. With nearly $4,500 AUD already raised, Sarah hopes to reach her target soon to manage the expenses of returning home.
